There was this one wonderful memory in May of 1977, I recall hopping into our family car with popcorn in hand. The family had decided to go see the movie Star Wars – A New Hope at the new drive-in theater to see what the fuss was all about. Star Trek Has Arrived

Star Trek has been popular for decades. It has gained popularity with comic book readers, addicted television watchers, and movie lovers. Star Trek fans can see their favorite characters, such as Captain Kirk, Spock, James, and Uhara, come alive in the new release by Jeffrey Jacobs, “J.J.” Abrams. The Star Trek movie features actors Chris Pine, John Cho, Zachary Quinto, and many other amazing actors. J.J. Abrams is an award winning director who was a great choice for directing this movie. Star Trek fans, also known as Trekkies, would be hard to disappoint because he was in the director’s chair. He has won both Emmy and Golden Globe awards for his work.

The new release is the eleventh Star Trek movie based on the franchise. The science fiction movie is filled with action and adventure. What’s different and unique about this movie is that it previews the history of characters James Tiberius Kirk and Spock. It tells of their journey about how they started their careers on the USS Enterprise. The plot of the movie is an exciting one. The opening scenes of the movie show an attack against the USS Kelvin by a Romulan vessel, Narada. James Kirk’s life begins during the attack because he was born during all the fighting. The movie then continues on 22 years after the attack when James is an adult.

At a bar in Iowa, James meets captain Pike and a love interest, Uhara. After a bar brawl, Captain Pike convinces James to straighten up his life, use his intelligence, and join the Starfleet academy. Upon arrival of the academy, James runs into Uhara and the guys he fought at the bar. However, that didn’t stop him from doing so well in the academy. He also sits next to Dr. Leonard McCoy, who soon becomes one of his good friends. James excels in the academy and beats an unbeatable test; instincts just like his father. Some of the students from the Starfleet Academy were called to join the USS enterprise because there was an attack in space. James wasn’t chosen because he was accused of cheating on a test, but his friend Dr. McCoy sneaks him on the USS Enterprise.

The action and adventure continues with the USS Enterprise fighting off Nero, captain of the Narada. Nero destroyed a Vulcan empire and had plans to destroy Earth. James Kirk is promoted to a first officer and then becomes captain. He and Spock work together to defeat the Narada. The best way to find out if the Narada is defeated is to see the movie and watch the action.

Star Wars Lego: Creativity at Its Finest

Over the years of its existence, the Lego toys have improved a lot. One of the greatest improvements of the toy is when they start featuring the movie Star Wars in their themes. Lego is already a popular game then, but since it has incorporated the Star Wars theme into its creations, its popularity went through the roof. They have created miniature versions of the characters, spacecrafts, creatures and many other that are present in the movie. These Lego toys are still shaped like blocks but with the right parts, you can build an intricate X-wing fighter or even a millennium falcon.

If you are an avid fan of the Star Wars movie series, then surely you are familiar with many scenarios and characters it has. You can reenact these scenarios to reminisce this great movie. You can also be more creative and put your own ending and may be change the script to your preferred story line. You need to have all the Lego Star War characters for this. You also need to build the background from other Lego parts to make it look realistic. You can entertain your other Star Wars friends for hours with these.

A good suggestion is to make a stop motion movie clip out of your Lego Star Wars toys. This is laborious work but you and your friends will be able to enjoy it. For this, you will need a digital camera that has high memory because you will be taking many pictures. You also need a tripod for the camera because it has to remain stationary throughout the entire making of the stop motion movie clip. Next, is to prepare what you are going to need like the lighting, the characters and the background.

Now that you have your stage set up, you have to position your camera in such a way that it will not move even if you are continuously changing the position of your characters and vehicles. Now the laborious part, first you take the initial picture of your characters. Then you move them slightly to make it look like that they are in motion, then you take their picture again without moving the position camera. Do this until you have accomplished the scene that you want to reenact.

Collect all the pictures and put them together using a movie editing software. If you were going to watch the compiled pictures, it would like a movie mini clip of the scene you have made with the Lego toys. The last thing that you have to do is put the sound effects and the dialogues of your movie clip and you are all set. Through trial and error, you will learn how to make things smoother. You can also add some creativity add some new things or create “scenes” that were not shown in the movie. Like how do they eat in the Death Star or how do Darth Vader sleep and many other things that can make people laugh. With this, you will be able to build your own Star Wars movie one piece at a time.

Prison Break Star Filling Up 2008 Calendar

The WGA strike has affected more than our television programming, as it has also impacted the lives of numerous actors and actresses working in the same industry. Since there are no more shows to tape, television actors need to start looking at other ventures to keep them busy.

Prison Break is currently on hiatus until they come back in January with a bunch of new episodes to air. As long as the strike goes on, nothing will be filmed and there won’t be anything to be aired as well. With that in consideration, the actors should have a pretty free schedule, and should look for more activities to keep away the boredom of waiting.

That is exactly what Prison Break star Robert Knepper is doing, as he is ready to work on other projects while the strike is holding them up. Just last week, Hitman, the movie starring Timothy Olyphant, Dougray Scott, Olga Kurylenko, Ulrich Thomsen, Michael Offei and Prison Break’s very own T-Bag, Robert Knepper.

In talking about his character in Hitman, Knepper told Crave Online, “His name is Yuri Markov. He’s head of the FSB which used to be the KGB. I just modeled him after Putin. He’s a guy who’s a company guy. He’s a guy that wants to be president probably some day of Russia and will do anything and everything to get up there, including some pretty bad stuff. Having a presidential candidate knocked off and have somebody imitate him, it’s all just interwoven in this nice little story about people coming to terms with this hitman, realizing he doesn’t want to be a hitman anymore. But it was great. I just immersed myself in Russia for about three weeks. It’s night and day trying to get that damn dialect.”

The film is the first for Knepper since 2005, but the coming year will promise the actor even more projects as he will be playing the villain in the new Bond flick and will also be appearing in Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine spin-off film.

Knepper will also be flying off to England in June 2008 to participate in the Breakout Beyond convention dedicated to Prison Break and Veronica Mars fans. Moreover, Kristen Bell will be in attendance for the said event, which will provide fans with photo and autograph sessions and guest talks with their favorite stars. More details will be released as the convention date draws closer, so fans watch out!

Make you Own Star Wars Lightsaber and Bring Out the True Jedi Inside of You!

When George Lucus first came up with the concept that is Star Wars I doubt he’d imagined in his wildest dreams just how successful it would become. The original movie Star Wars IV A New Hope was brought to the big screen way back in 1977, audiences around the world were wowed by the amazing special effects and fantasised about a galaxy far far away.

Despite being almost 30 years old Star Wars is as popular now than ever before, thanks largely to the success of the original films and the recent release of the prequels it seems that people young and old are enjoying the Star Wars Sager all over again.

Having been dragged up during the 70’s I was caught up in the original hype of the Force, Jedi’s and of course Lightsabers. Used by Jedi’s and Sith’s alike this elegant weapon has been a must have on every true Star Wars fan wish list since the original movie.

Just imagine how great it would be to have your own Lightsaber. Voooooo-Vooooooo. Come on admit it, we’ve all done it right? You stand by the mirror with a brush in your hand pretending to swing your weapon back and forth in true Obi-Wan style, prenteding to be the Jedi master that you know lies deep inside. No, well perhaps it’s just me then? Well I was only 10 at the time, but the idea to have a Lightsaber has never left me.

Reality check, unfortunately and as much as it pains me to admit it, Lightsabers are not real. So the thought of maiming your worst enemy with a laser sword will have to wait for the time being at least.

Still it did get me thinking about Lightsabers, and although I couldn’t make a real one perhaps I could make a realistic prop, just like the ones used in the films? What I did find surprising is that despite the appeal of Lightsabers there is a distinct lack of information with regards to making your own. Most guides at best are patchy and do not provide the detailed information needed.

It’s believed that the original Lightsabers were constructed out of a ‘ Glaflex 3 Cell Flash Gun’ but unfortunately these are becoming increasingly rare to locate and are expensive to buy. You could try eBay or other auction websites if you want to go down this route but just be wary of fakes and incomplete parts.

Don’t think either that creating your own Lightsaber is difficult, it’s not. In fact all the parts needed to make your weapon are readily available at your local hardware store. So what are you waiting for, start feeling the force today and build your own Lightsaber.
